Privacy Policy – UPC Price Finder

This Privacy Policy describes how Data Bunker ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the UPC Price Finder Chrome Extension ("the Extension").

1. Information We Collect

The Extension may process the following data solely to provide its core functionality:

• Active tab content: The Extension reads the content of the active browser tab only when the user explicitly triggers a search, in order to identify products or UPC barcodes on the page.
• Search queries: Product names or UPC codes entered by the user are sent to our backend API to retrieve price comparison results from Google Shopping.
• User preferences: Settings such as the backend API URL are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.).
• We do not track browsing history.
• We do not sell, share, or transmit any user data to third parties for advertising or analytics purposes.
• We do not store search queries on our servers beyond the time needed to process and return results.

3. How We Use the Information

Data processed by the Extension is used exclusively to:

• Search for price information corresponding to the product or UPC code provided by the user.
• Display price comparison results within the Extension interface.
• Save user preferences locally on the device.

4. Third-Party Services

The Extension communicates with the following third-party services to deliver results:

• Oxylabs: Used to query Google Shopping for product prices. Oxylabs processes search queries in accordance with their own Privacy Policy.
• Google Gemini API: Used to structure and analyze price results. Data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

No user-identifiable information is shared with these services.

5. Data Storage and Security

User preferences are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. Search queries are transmitted securely via HTTPS to our backend and are not persisted after the response is returned.

6. Permissions Justification

• activeTab: To read page content only when the user triggers a search.
• contextMenus: To allow price searches from right-click on selected text.
• scripting: To extract product information from the active page.
• storage: To save user preferences locally.
• tabs: To detect the active tab and provide relevant results.
• sidePanel: To display results in Chrome's side panel.

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
